I Lost My Tooth In Africa By Penda Kiakite

When Amina visits her family in Mali, she loses her tooth and according to custom places it under a calabash and receives, according to Mali custom, a chicken and rooster. The child's excitement over the loss of her tooth and the hopes of the tooth fairy visit are very real. Then she experiences the hatching of baby chicks by the pair. Based on a true family story which happened to the author's sister. The colorful ceramic tile illustrations have an African feel.
